Attending multiple keynotes provided us with valuable insights, but one of the most enriching experiences was the networking opportunities. MGM Resorts: Revolutionizing hospitality with Oracle
We heard from Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts, who shared how Oracle’s Fusion technology has revolutionized their operations. During the onset of COVID-19, MGM Resorts utilized Oracle Opera and Fusion to facilitate remote work, ensuring seamless operations amidst the pandemic. Additionally, they have integrated Oracle products into various business sectors, including finance management and the check-in process.
A particularly critical innovation highlighted was the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to assess customer calls. MGM Resorts handles an impressive average of 15,000-20,000 calls per day. Hornbuckle mentioned that it is essential for them to identify and evaluate which calls are genuine and require attention.
The CIA: Securing national interests with Oracle
La’Naia Jones from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) provided a profound testament to Oracle’s enduring partnership since 1977. She highlighted how Oracle’s robust security features and data-driven solutions are pivotal in safeguarding national security. Jones elaborated on the CIA’s use of generative AI to enhance cybersecurity, streamline operations, and support mission-critical decisions, showcasing Oracle’s impact on even the most sensitive and high-stakes environments.
A critical aspect of the CIA’s operations involves leveraging data and AI across various sectors, including logistics. Jones emphasized:
“Everything we do from logistics to supply chain to cyber, to finance, to human resources, we want to be able to have that to help augment everything we do.”
BNP Paribas: Banking on innovation and sustainability
Representatives Bernard Gavgani and Jean-Yves Fillion from BNP Paribas illustrated the bank’s strategic alliance with Oracle. They detailed their migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), enabling centralized data management across 18 countries and 16 currencies. We also heard from Antonio Buchi, CEO of Entel, Chile’s largest telecommunications company. He shared his journey of digital transformation powered by Oracle. Buchi emphasized their commitment to customer satisfaction, pointing out their high Net Promoter Score (NPS), which reflects the loyalty of their customers.
Buchi explained that Entel has been using AI to predict network quality, which has resulted in a 60% reduction in customer churn. He noted that this application of AI goes beyond just improving efficiency—it directly enhances the customer experience. Additionally, by utilizing Oracle NetSuite, Entel has been able to streamline their operations, allowing them to make more efficient and targeted investments, he mentioned.

Larry Ellison, Co-Founder and CTO of Oracle, delivered a visionary keynote that underscored Oracle's strategic pivot towards a multi-cloud future and the integration of AI in enhancing cybersecurity. He also showcased the Autonomous Database, which leverages AI to eliminate human labor and errors in database management.
